How to Encrypt Files and Folders on Windows 10 through EFS Encryption?

You can use Encryption File System with BitLocker if you would like to encrypt your folders and files. EFS is utilized to encrypt folders and files, and BitLocker is utilized to encrypt the whole disk. So, here are the instructions given below.


Encrypt Folders and Files
  1. Firstly, you have to sign in to Windows 10.
  2. Then press the Windows and E buttons together to invoke the File Explorer.
  3. After that, go to the disk or partition wherever you would like to save the data and would like to encrypt it with EFS.
  4. Go to the folder and right-click on it then select the Properties option.

Turn on Other Users to Access the Encrypted Files on Windows 10
  1. Firstly, you should share the user certificate that doesn’t have a reach to the encrypted data.
  2. After that, sign in to the Windows 10 through the user account.
  3. Go to the certificate and twice click on it to begin the process of certificate installation.
  4. Beneath the ‘Welcome to the Certificate Import Wizard,’ select the ‘Current User’ then pick the Next button.
  5. You should identify the file you would like to import then choose the Next button.
  6. Input the password then choose the Next button.
  7. Go to the ‘Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate’ option then choose the Next button.
  8. Beneath the ‘Completing the Certificate Import Wizard’ option and select the Finish button.
  9. Then, you will see the verification screen ‘The import was successful.’
  10. Invoke the File Explorer then go to the location wherever encrypted files are.
  11. Now, launch the encrypted files. As you should view, User ‘B’ has effectively launched the encrypted text file.
